Last night, I signed up online with Diabetes UK's "Get Serious" campaign - at the time of writing it has 4899 supporters so far.

Perhaps others would be interested to do the same. It's a very simple process - here is the link:

http://www.diabetes.org.uk/GetSerious/

As part of that process, I sent a personalised email to my MP and maybe others would consider it worth doing the same too. Here is the link that takes you through the process to contact your MP:

In my opinion, it would be great if the diabetic community were to become very much more actively involved in campaigning for things that we feel strongly about.

Absolutely, spot on! :D

This has been made a 'sticky' so people can find it easily.

Comments are not really necessary, it's your signatures that matter.

OMG!!!!!
My MP actually mailed me back and invited me to make an appointment to see him to discuss my concerns!

Is it really sad to be quite excited to meet the man i have been voting for all these years???

Hi Dippy :D

Just remember that he is just a man and is only an MP because people like you and me voted for him.

There is an election imminent and he really needs your vote! You have his attention!! 8)

Hi Dippy 3103,

No it's not - but don't be too over impressed and become tongue tied. Give him your views!

Best wishes - John

Don't think the election is that much of an issue to him.... his majority is pretty substantial. Please be assured tongue tied is something i have never been!!

Obviously, i will need to treat myself to a new outfit and possibly even shoes for such an occasion. My partner, rather unkindly in my view, has suggested that it's "any excuse" to go shopping!

Signed emailed msp and facebooked also emailed to friends and family. :D

Thanks Sue! That seemed to help tremendously because the number increased sharply.

I hope that people on this forum are making a difference.

C'mon everyone help Diabetes UK with this campaign.

Let's all try to enlist others to help too because that makes the biggest difference - friends, family and workmates etc.

Best wishes - John

Support for Diabetes UK's "Get Serious" Campign keeps growing quite steadily - was up to 5,122 supporters the last time that I looked. I hope that people on this forum have made a difference.

In my opinion, we all have a vested interset in getting behind campaigns such as this.

Have a great weekend - John
