Support for family memebers of Diabetics?

Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any support groups/ online forums for family members of Diabetics? My husband has had type1 for over 30 years, I take care of all his food and medication and always go with him to all medical appointments. I support him in everyway I can, but sometimes it feels like I don't live a normal life especially the past couple of years since his health has taken a turn for the worse. I feel constantly worried about him. I would love to be able to talk to others out there who are in a similar position as me. Thank you for reading this. Rachel
 
First let me say fabulous name hun let me introduce myself Im Rachel lol and i too am married to an amazing man that has type 1 and i totally understand what u r trying to say he is my best friend we do everything together with our son also but the worry never goes away does it every night and every morning and several times between i can't help but worry about him his activities his food his sugers how he feels things like these r constantly running through my mind i haven't heard of any forums for people like us hun if i do I'll let u know and vice versa but until then i do find this forum a huge help and now knowing there r people like u on here is fab take care hopefully we can talk some more :grin:

Thanks for the reply Rachel, how funny the same name and you know where I am coming from, wow!!

Everything you said was spot on. The worry never goes away does it? Even a trip to the supermarket becomes an event when we have to plan it at just the right time in between food and insulin and to check sugars before we go then before we leave the shop. It feels as if Diabetes totally controls both of our lives.

I am really surprised there is no support group of some kind for relatives of Diabetics. There seems to be for everything else lol!! It helps to know I'm not the only one out there feeling like this. Hope we can chat again Rachel
