Feeling rather lost right now...my TI doesn't care what happens to himself...I do ALL I can on my part, after him drinking 40+ units of alcohol last week over a couple of days I've lost it totally with him. He has problems he won't get checked over (ulcers/swollen feet ) and lives for now, hang the consequences. I feel he's being selfish and irresponsible with his health, but as he says it's his disease and 'I don't understand' !!! I've done all I can to support him..done the research he asked me to do....but it wasn't enough, perhaps I know too much and when I see him having a total disregard for his health and future the stress levels rise to such a degree it's causing countless arguments. Are there any support groups for partners at all ???

Hi and welcome feelinglost, it seems to be a common problem with the poor suffering partners of men with diabetes, type 1 and type 2. I will never understand these men's attitudes and indifference to diabetes and their loved ones, I find it shocking.
Please take care of yourself, if you want to have rant, help or support, then this is a good place. for that
Good luck and I wish you all the very best, RRB

I hear you, it must be incredibly frustrating. My ex had major health issues and did little to help himself. It's very tiring for the partner.

Take some time for yourself each day where you switch off from him and his diabetes. Go for a walk, have coffee with a friend, or do whatever feels right for you. Write about your feelings in a journal or blog, or post about them here. We support you.
