had an appointment today with the dietician to check on how I was getting on with my food intake since T2 diagnosis a couple of months ago.

I told her about my reduced carb diet and the fact I had lost almost 9 kg since diagnosis.

i expected to be given a dressing down and be told to stick to the eatwell plate. Much to my surprise, she congratulated me on my excellent progress and told me to keep up the good work.

So I suppose not all NHS staff are hung up on the high carb low fat diet that is usually recommended.

I suspect it depends on how you treat them.

All my HCP's tend to be supportive, providing I get the results.

Maybe too the penny has dropped and dietitians have done further courses? Certainly my Consultants didn't blink when I mentioned decreasing carbohydrates!

I think the 'evil dietitian' is actually a reflection of the patient most of the time.
All the ones I've ever met I've worked with, and they've worked with me.

I think there is a change afoot, relating to diet. I think it will be quite some time, if ever, before LC replaces the Eat Well Plate as the core recommendation. However, I do think there is a clearer understanding that along with eating habits, sustainability os key, so in other words, the diet that's right for you is the one you can stick with, long term. Chopping and changing can so often lead to yo-yo weight and control.

We have our own version of the eatwell plate here in Canada.
I have no problem with that being taught because not everyone needs to do LCHF What I object to is that when diagnosed with T2 that nothing else is suggested. Just "eat healthy and cut out sugar"
Not everyone benefits from LCHF. As we see on this forum everyone has a different path.
