According to researchers in the report "Oral health awareness in adult patients with diabetes: a questionnaire study", published in the latest issue of the British Dental Journal (BDJ), several individuals who suffer with diabetes are not aware that their oral health is closely connected to their risk of developing complications.

This is interesting but not much more really than some stats. Maybe I missed it but I cannot recall my nurse saying owt to me about it... maybe it is in the leaflet, my dentist did tho. 8)

Hi had to reply to this as i,m a dental nurse and the fact that you suffer from diabetes does affect your oral health making you more prone to gum disease and other nasties. Its really important that diabetes sufferers are 100% on top of oral hygiene even more so than anyone else realy .
If anyone would like any further info on this i would be happy to help.
Jennie
