Hi one and all - has anyone ever suffered from "thermoregulatory disturbance"? Literally profuse sweating - not BO smelly, just uncontrollable sweat? I believe it's related to neuropathy. If anyone knows a way to help please say. Thanks x

I"ve got dysautonomia which is annoying when it comes to being unable to regulate my body temp according to the temp around me - and has caused a few issues over the years (mostly heat stroke)
 
My wife (not diabetic) has had excessive sweating since early childhood. Hers is due to a condition called hyperhidrosis. A lot of the time her hands and feet are drenched, which means she is rarely not cold in winter! We got her a machine a few years ago, which athletes use to reduce sweat. You put your hands into it for 20 minutes and it administers very small electric shocks. No idea why it helps, but it does reduce her symptoms. The machine is expensive though (I think it was around £500). However, if you can prove it's for medical purposes you won't have to pay VAT on it.
 
Thanks Charles I've been googling the hell out of this and hyperhidrosis seems to be in targetted places (aka hands or feet or underarms etc) but mine is all over (minus the face) so I'm wondering if it's something else. I've heard botox is supposed to work well with hyperhidrosis too - did your wife try that?
 
hmm Nyxks dystautonomia ad it's symptoms is running a bit close to home...alway's something hiding in the woodworks hey!! Thanks for the heads up, definitely something to discuss with a physician x
