I've been doing low carb or the last 10 days or so in an attempt to get my BG down sufficiently for a cataract op tomorrow. I was only diagnosed recently and my GP is't being terribly helpful considering I went in with a fasting BG of 19!
The low carb diet combined with a heap of exercise has brought my level down to 12/13 ish over the last few days. earlier this afternoon my op got cancelled and I got a bit tearful  Darling OH made me a cup of tea with a teaspoonful of sugar in. Now this is the first proper carb I've had since 29th March, but I was feeling very upset and it helped
Anyway, the remorse soon kicked in, so I thought I'd better check my levels. An hour after the tea it had gone up by 1.3, but an hour later I took it again (! always do a 4pm reading) and it was 1.5 LOWER than lunchtime, so a fall in total of 2.8.
Does this mean my 1st response insulin is working? Not at all sure I've got my head round this!
Many thanks for any opinions
