I am still having trouble satisfying my sweet tooth.... sweetness from fruit just isn't the same... I eat healthy and all the right foods, I have also lost 2 and half stone but I miss having a little sweet something after my evening meal... would just a couple of squares of chocolate or a couple of boiled sweets do any harm on a daily basis.... I only need a couple to satisfy... :?:

I keep chocolate dipped walnuts in my cupboard for just such an occasion :D I also make the white chocolate roughy ( recipe in the food section here ). They seem to sort me out without hitting my bg too hard. I think everyone has a little special something that they keep when the munchies hit.

I whip double cream together with a melted square of very dark choc.It only takes a very short time to turn into chocolate mousse It is great on its own or you can add some berries or chopped walnuts. It is filling as well as satisfying the sweet craving.

Hi Sarnie,

I have had an extremely unusual time this Christmas, I am usually extremely strict but this year I threw caution to the wind. I have eaten a lot of food which ordinarily I wouldnt even look at!!.
I have observed that I get the expected high short term spike, but my post prandial readings have been comfortingly good. Come 3rd Jan I will be back to "normal" , but I do have an occasional 2 squares oh high cocoa dark chocolate which is only approx 30grams per 100 gram bar and has minimal effect on my blood glucose levels.

All the best - Steve

Thanks for your ideas guys.....

As long as you give yourself the correct insulin dose to keep your sugars at a decent level it's fine
