Switching from insulin to other medications

Hey,

I was diagnosed in August and i was started on insulin. My antibody test came back normal however the diabetic nurse has told me to stay on insulin till i see an endocrinologist. Prior the the antibody test, they had thought that i was likely to be type 1. I'm 30 years old, bmi of 20, no family history.

I've been adjusting well to the insulin and managing to keep my blood sugar under control. My freestyle libre is predicting an a1c of 5.3% or 34 mmol/mol (it was 95 when i was diagnosed). Fingers crossed that my next a1c test shows something similar.

Generally i've been having a low carb diet and having 4 units before a meal. I've had rare meals which are heavier in carbs (e.g. noodles and some gyoza) and ive needed 10 units to bring it within range. I take 12 units of slow release at night.

Unfortunately my appointment with the endocrinologist keeps getting delayed, apparently it will now be in late January.

What do you guys think will be the outcome of the my meeting with the consultant? Will they put me on other meds? I like how i'm able to use the insulin to keep such a tight control of my blood sugar and im concerned that other medications will not allow me to do that.

It's pretty much impossible for anyone to second guess what your consultant will do. Your consultant will base their diagnosis and treatment on the results of your tests.
I could be wrong but I thought that the antibody test was either positive or negative, I don't understand what they mean by normal. I know that a positive antibody test confirms a T1 diagnosis but a negative one doesn't necessarily discount it.
Could the normal result be for the c peptide test which measures how much insulin you can produce?
