Hi,

I was diagnosed with diabetes at the end of October last year but the doctors weren't sure of the type. Now my nurse has come as close as she can to telling me I am type 1, because I have started honeymooning. I guess the doctor will officially confirm it at my next appointment.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to my new forum home now I have a bit of certainty to my diagnosis but also ask about honeymooning.

I understand the length of time you honeymoon is variable, so I have to just wait and see how long it lasts. For those of you who had a honeymoon period, what were the symptoms of it ending? Was it a gradual rise in BG or was it more erratic?

Cheers!
Craig

welcome to the forum :)

as honeymooning is so variable it is very difficult to generalise.
i had a very long honeymoon period as i recall and did suffer unexpected hypos.

Welcome to the forum.

As @himtoo has said the honeymoon can vary from person to person. Some people don't get it at all.

I was diagnosed in June 2012 and I'm sure by January/February 2013 it was coming to an end. Some people have a longer honeymoon than that.

I was in honeymoon period for 7 months and I was without both insulin. It was great because I hardly had any hypos and my sugars were stable all the time (between 4 and 7) . It ended in December last year and first my fasting sugars (in the morning) were higher than usual and they were rising every day, so after few days I started first with Lantus, and after week with Apidra. You can't know how long will it be, but enjoy every day. And welcome to the forum
