I was diagnosed with LADA last year after being treated as Type 2 for 5 years. I constantly asked my doctor why treatments were not working and I had to control my diabetes with diet and found exercise (mostly successfully).
When I convinced my GP to do the antibodies blood test which gave a strong positive result it took a further year to get correct treatment because of incompetence and misinformation from my local NHS Trust - Ayrshire and Arran.
But since starting on insulin my life changed. I started with a CMG a few weeks after starting Insulin and that gave me better control - I have been in range for 97% of the last year and I'm hoping to start on an insulin pump in this financial year.
The correct treatment can, and will, change your life in an exciting way. It's weird to say, but I like having diabetes - since diagnosis, I have a stronger understanding of my health and my physical wellbeing.
