I have type 2 and am staring work in a hotel cleaning rooms, this is hard physical work with a lot of running up and down stairs etc. I do around 2.5 to 3 hrs work per day.

So my question is what should I eat before I go there, and during for snacks etc, as around half way through the morning I am quite tired and today my friend said I was pale e.g. sugars were needed.

Each morning I have tried different foods combinations, but still feel very tired for most of the day. (breakfasts have included scrambled eggs on brown toast, porridge oats etc)

Any suggestions to what I should eat before I got to work to get me through the morning with just a light snack say mid morning

thanks

Michael

p.s I have only being diagonised around 6 weeks ago and still getting used to all of the new style of eating etc and before you ask I do not know what my levels are as my doctor has not given me a meter etc, one is on it's way from a supplier)

Hi Michael,
I found it hard at first when I was diagnosed type2, and of course for some time before I found out. The mornings were allways the worst for me. I had 60gms porridge in the morning (still do) and a low fat low cal yoghurt. I found that losing weight really helped. I lost 5 stones and my diabetes went with it. No meds now but I still have to watch what I eat. It sounds to me as if you are experiencing a sugar low. When that happened to me I would ask for some bread or beans on toast. There are probably better things to eat! I have heard of people, not necessarily diabetics, who have boiled sweets with them to suck on. An immediate sugar hit, but released over the length of time it takes you to suck the sweet.
Good luck, Lee
