Hi all.
Been on the forum for a while, but never actually posted!!
I was diagnosed T2 in 2014. Diet controlled for a year, then put on Metformin.
Over the course of almost 10 years, ive lost 18 stone. I try to eat & drink as well as i can, & do as much exercise as my arthritis allows!!
I am lead to believe that my bloods r always *amazing* but im still abit in the dark about it all!! I got a severe telling off for buying myself a monitor, & that T2s dont need to test, & that its bad for the extremities, so I stopped. My highest reading before I stopped was 14.8 & my lowest was 3.2.
I guess the point of this is just to ask if members think im doing ok, or if theres more I could be doing??
Many thanks
Sharon

Most of us here would find that having a glucose monitor is an essential part of getting better glucose control.

Learning how to use the glucose meter to see and understand the direct relationship/impact of food to our glucose level(and by proxy insulin level) gives us a lot of control over improving our condition.

Hi @MrsGoral Wow! Losing 18 stone is quite an achievement. Your avatar shows you as an 'Insulin-dependent Type 2'. Is that correct? You say you are on Metfornin.
What are your HbA1c test results like?

Hello and great to hear from you. Congratulations on your progression with weight loss, what a star you are!

It has to be said that our Health Care Professionals are there to advise us, whether we choose to act on that advice is completely up to us. If you wish to keep testing then do so but if you are uncomfortable about going against the advice to stop testing then stop. The decision is yours.

Hi all. Apologies for taking so long to reply!!
My HbA1c....well, Im never actually told...i guess I should probably ask!! Diabetes nurse said last one was really good....
Im not on insulin...not sure why it says that!!

I feel im just kinda left to get on with it, if that makes sense??

You need to test to know your blood glucose levels, ignore the ignorant person telling you off for getting a monitor. You DO need one and need to use it. People telling you you don't need to are putting your health at risk. The level of ignorance in the medical profession in regards to this is I think quite frightening. They absolutely do not know what they are talking about.

Congrats on the weight loss, huge plus!

And welcome!
