Type of diabetes
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
I have just started treatment with Lucentis for my eyes, first one was last monday and first for other eye is on Monday.

First thing to say is that the treatment went really well and was done at a specialist day care unit for eyes locally to me in SW Wales.

However need to get blood sugar levels down and yesterday increased my glicazide by one tablet so now taking two but has taken all week to get my GP to advise plus another blood test which is a repeat of one done at the hospital a week eralier.

I am waiting for a referal to diabetic clinic at the hospital but useless Gps are trying to force me to use theirs but dont trust them, especially after this weeks fiasco on meds. Everything is just taking so long except the eye treatment.

Does anyone know how long it takes the body to adjust to changes in amount of med?

The blood test showed level was 12 this week, last monday was 14 and the monday before was 19!

I have no way to check levels anymore and have no idea if in Wales they will prescibe strips etc and am a pensioner.

I cant afford expensive accu check stuff but have seen another meter on amazon plus strips and lancets? that seem to be the most purchased and the strips and stuff much cheaper. Any advice please.

Hi if you are on glizacide you should have been prescribed a meter and strips because you need to test before driving etc.
