Anonymous question submitted:

I have recently slipped off my track as far as my type 2 is concerned. My time has been taken up by a sick husband and there has not been too much time to concentrate on the diabetes. Has anyone any advice on how to get back on track. I take no medication and sugar is at 7 after fasting. I cannot be the only person who lapses - can I?

Absolutely not. We've probably all fallen of that wagon at some point. Well, I have at any rate.

The important thing is to jump right back on it as soon as possible.

I suggest that you go back to basics; it is all about testing and carb control.

Look at what worked for you before and try to repeat it.

You will not be able to care for your husband if you make yourself sick so please make the effort to look after yourself as well.

Ask as many questions you feel you need to to ensure you know what needs to be done.

Best of luck

We all fall off the wagon.

It is one of the inevitabilities. Sooner or later.

I should have a think - what do you want? Feel better? Lower blood glucose? More active? Less tired?
It could be anything.

Then work out how to take one step at a time to get there. ;)

With me, when I've been eating too many carbs, I never go cold turkey. Some people do. Gives them a massive sense of accomplishment. But for me, I can't face the carb cravings and the carb flu. So I ease into things, cutting down, meal by meal, or trailing off as the fridge empties of treats. Then I just don't buy more.

Whichever approach works best for you, just take it one step at a time. :)
