Hi again,

Day 5 of taking metformin, and LCHF, my bs are doing really well, and for the most not feeling deprived being on low carb.

Sleeping or should I say staying asleep is becoming an issue, last night I went to sleep about 1130, woke at 0115 for a pee, then was wide awake till well gone 0400. Then awake again just after 7. I can normally manage on 5 hours unbroken sleep, but this tossing and turning every night is starting to make my sugar sweet pee boil lol. Mrs Bookmite is also getting ratty at the amount of nocturnal disturbances going on:-) but won't hear of me sleeping in the spare room.

I have the means to knock me out, but I'm resisting because of the day after effect.

Also I don't know why but my overnight fasting BS was 7.7 unusually high for me, after being stable and controlled all week.especially after only consuming 46g carb yesterday. It fell by pre lunch to 6.2.

Any tips and hints would be appreciated

No tips, unless you drink caffeine in the evenings, or cheese before bed. I've never had a sleep problem, but TBH the spare room idea is a good one. This may also explain your fasting level this morning. Restless nights can play havoc so the liver thinks you need some glucose to help counteract it.

There are some changes to your body with you starting on Metformin and changing diet and its probably all on your mind.
I wouldnt worry to much,I think we all have restless nights now and again.
Dont knock yourself out its not a natural sleep and you will feel worse.
