Hi Everybody and anyone else who nose me

I had shingles about 8 weeks ago and it has left me with the above condition. Anyone else suffer from this and is there any connection with type 2. Have beem put on amtrypline and gabapentin as nerve pain blocks. I know that they use these for diabetic neuropathy. How long do they take to kick in? Side effects ? Long term implications of there use? Any info would be useful as I sit here naked waiting for my painkillers to kick in. Never knew that my breath could trigger pain :?

I had the tactile allodynia when I had shingles. Fortunately I managed to abort the attack as I started Famvir 30 hours after the first symptom and it went away after four days.

You certainly have my sympathy.

It isn't due to the diabetes.

Unnecessary rudeness, and any PC
I had this nearly 20 years ago, and it was never attributed to diabetes or, strictly speaking, correctly diagnosed in the first place as I had no other symptoms. Lasted about 12 months and was very painful so I totally sympathise. Nothing made much difference until I was referred to a pain clinic and given a single cortisone injection. That injection was excruciating, but must have done something as I've never had a single symptom since. Good luck with the pills, hope you get to that place too!
