This might be a silly question but i have a birthday coming up and i'm now low carbing,me and the kids treat ourselves to a take away on birthdays,is there any thing that i could have also i'm a vegetarian, any ideas ? shan x

I was gonna say Kebab (minus the pitta bread) with extra salad... Which is a great treat if you are lo-carbing! But vegetarian kebabs? Maybe an Indian? Again - if you aare lo-carbing you coul have pretty much any curry (minus the rice) and even treat yourself to a couple of poppadums in lace of naan bread.

If you're not lo-carbing, I'd say just go mad and have whatever you want.

(P.S - Happy Birthday!)

Indian curries are ok, I often have veggie curries or paneer, you can have poppadums or do your own cauliflower rice pilau style, loads of my non-diabetic friends like that rice too because its a tasty, easy way to eat more vegetables.

Do you have a chinese menu handy, have a look there must be dishes that you can have without noodles and vegetarian choices, again you can do a cauliflower rice, this time just season it with salt, pepper, a generous knob of butter and a few splashes of Maggi or soya sauce.

I hope you have a really good time

ERR Whats cauliflower rice and where do you get it and whats in a Paneer never had one, theres so much to learn, like curry that would be good, shan x

Cauliflower rice is made by grating fresh cauliflower into fluffy shreds then fried in some oil or butter until it starts to brown. Season to taste and enjoy!

I also recommend stuff called protopasta from ciaocarb. I got it online and it's pasta, which is shaped like rice, low carb and tastes and looks ricey.

The Indian cuisine has probably the widest choice of vegetable dishes as a result of the wide-ranging dietary requirements of their large number of religions. Buddhists don't eat meat, Hindus don't eat beef, Moslems don't eat pork products. Have a chat with the restaurant owner and he'll probably offer to make you a vegetable dish which isn't on the regular menu. It's happened to me several times.
Paneer, for those not in the know, is a home-made cottage cheese, often found on Indian menus mixed with peas. It's very simple to make so if anyone's interested say so here and I'll post the recipe.

Shan, have a look there for the cauliflower rice recipes

My local Indian restaurant has lots of paneer dishes and vegetable curries, I just searched on google for images so you get an idea of what paneer curries can be like so have a look at this one it even gives you a recipe to make this dish at home
