Today has been a good day
My diabetes nurse called me, we had a good talk. I have been encouraged to return to a basal/bolus regime.

Currently I'm on HumulinM3, a mixed insulin usually prescribed to type 2's. I was put on this because I believe my Lantus at the time was messing with my memory, I had to go to A&E because I thought I double-dosed.

Last year I had severe depression and tried to take my own life, also was self-harming. Diabetes nurse decided it wasn't the time to change my regime or try to encourage me to carb count. Even though I know my diabetes comes first and is important, I stuck with the easier option and put everything on a backburner.

Today I've been put a carb counting course to start in April.

I feel like I'm in a much better place to "fight the good fight" with my diabetes, accept a new regime and give this whole carb counting thing a go.

Just wanted to share and maybe some people can share their thoughts or opinions.

So pleased your in a much better place @LucyM88, the carb counting course is a great step forward as it will teach you how to match your insulin to the food you eat. Good luck and best wishes.

so proud of you for taking the new steps, the course is very useful and don't be afraid to ask questions =D good luck and let us know how you get on xx

It's a way forward @LucyM88
Getting the D managment sorted is the foundation for everything else..

As an aside.. I just sussed your profile picture.. "Deadpool". Can't wait to see the movie! ;):cool:

@Type1Lad and @noblehead thanks thought it was about time really. I'm 27, been diabetic for 15years I should really take advantage of things like this. Learnt recently that it's not a specialist diet and won't restrict me, I can eat what I eat now it's just I will be doing the right amount of insulin and will have better sugar levels.

@Jaylee totally agree!

Ahhhhhhh yes! I loved deadpool
