I take nova rapid and Tresiba flexpen. I didn't know that changing your diet for the better for your diabetes could affect your eyesight? Thankfully, I had a blood test, and my eyes and kidneys are fine, but my cholesterol is high. So that is what I need to focus on lowering right away. Any tips would be appreciated.
Hi again, sorry for any confusion. I prefer to ask questions as opposed to just “stoving in.” (On assumptions.)
A short sharp shock with BG management (however it is done.) & drastically lowering A1c can affect the eyes. Similarly to long term mismanagement & associated highs? I had that kick in the teeth a few years back only to read about it too late. But sorted now..
Lowering carbs on a possible fixed dose of insulin? Or not knowing if you are comfortable with your insulin to carb ratio is just “health & safety” on my part. Please don’t feel you are being scrutinised or judged. By the way insulin working profiles for carbs can be just as tricky as protein. We all react individually to the tools provided. Some T1s are adept at pumping, which is equally confusing regarding diet choice.
Cholesterol? Has your doctor given you the option in favour to cut the carbs instead of prescribing statins?
I am starting to like your doc.

OK? You could look at “Diet doctor?” There are low carb & Keto recipes that should have a carb count..
you could look at “doctors kitchen”:stuff by Rupy Aujla? I fair quite well with some of his recipes. Though the recipes are a bit of an eyeball on the carb count I do fair reasonably well with the working profile of Novorapid.
You could look at some of the ideas in the low carb topics? They are mainly T2 subjects, but there is a wealth of info that you could possibly take away for you..
Best wishes.
