Type 1
Hi, I am really interested in getting my tattoo removed by laser but I've heard this is not possible if you have type 1. Has anyone out there heard this to or has anyone with type 1 had it done?

You really need to speak to your G.P. and see if he can refer you for a consultation. It may be that if your diabetes is well controlled there will not be a problem.
I am bumping your post up to see if anyone can help.

Hello @tracyr1973, my son is having ongoing laser treatment for a facial tattoo removal. It does cause swelling in the area, it's painful and very sensitive afterwards. He has not got diabetes, but has some other health conditions.
Always best to seek advice from your GP regarding diabetes and then get good feedback regarding a reputable tattooist. Good luck

Best wishes RRB

Hi Tracy. How well is your diabetes controlled and what is your wound healing like? Do you find that you generally heal as readily and the next person, or do you have difficulties here or are prone to infection. I'm pretty certain that those would be the main concerns.

Hi I heal really well and my control is good so hopefully it will be ok. I will speak to my gp and see what they say.

Thanks for your advice and I hope your son gets the end result he's after.

Thank you. I will speak to my GP I just wondered if anyone had actually had it done and if it went ok for them.
