Tattoos?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody has got a tattoo on their foot?

If so, how well did it heal? What are your bloods like?

I understand the risks of diabetics having any kind of tattoo or piercing and I know if your bloods are well controlled you are safer.

Just wondered if this is a complete no or if there is some potential?

Hi,

Blood sugars in check help with all "heals" being normal..

I'll take in @mahola regarding tattoo "aftercare" while it heals.

I had one done on my leg with no issues!

You can get a tattoo wherever you like as a T1, providing that you have no complications such as peripheral arterial disease.

Providing your ability to heal and fight infection is uninhibited, you'll be fine.

I have no tattoos on my feet but I do have a full sleeve and the majority of that was done after becoming T1.

A lot of diabetics are prescribed aspirin. This is something to consider if having a tattoo as this will effect how easily you will bleed and will take longer for the bleeding to stop.
If you have good control with your sugars there should be no problem.

I have a tattoo on my foot & had no problem at all with it healing at all, as long as you follow the cleaning instructions given by tattoo artist & make sure it is a properly qualified tattoo artist & the studio is clean, etc.

I have actually had the tattoo covered with another, also with no problems.
