For anyone who tests for breakfast, lunch, tea and bedtime do you always wait 4 hours for your teatime bolus to wear off until you do your bedtime test?

Also bearing in mind your BGl at bedtime and going to bed at an acceptable level ie 7mmol to 8mmol

Yes I always wait the full 4 hours having had a few long hypos during sleep at the beginning of my diagnosis which was not good. I make sure I am at 7mmol minimum before bed. I usually bolus for dinner between 6pm and 7pm and then scan about 11pm. If there is any correction needed either way I often wait up to midnight to make sure I am more or less correct. This is often easier said than done, I have had my Libre alarm going off in the night frequently the last couple of months! If I wake up at about 7mmol I would be very pleased!

Thanks for your great @Hertfordshiremum
I hope you don't mind me asking - if you need a correction dose are you ok going to bed with the correction insulin on board?

Yes If I am at 11 mmol or higher and not dropping (I have the Libre) I personally will correct before bed however I need less than I would during the day as I tend to drop slowly for the following 4 hours and as I am not eating or up to keep an eye on things I take probably about half to three quarters the amount I would during the day if I needed to add a correction to a pre meal bolus. My advice would be start small when correcting before bed and see how it effects you, you can build up safely over time. I am at my lowest usually between 4am and 5am after an 11.30pm correction then it starts to go up again (dawn phenomena) If I woke up at 7am at about 7mmol I have often been a couple of mmol lower in the night.
