Morning.
We got the 'reader" for Max's Accu-Chek and wow what a difference it has made to knowing where we are, how he is doing and what I need to do more or less of and when.
Tight management is made so much easier being able to see the data in 3D and i feel so much more confident with what we are doing.
It has helped to reduce testing too - we stick to certain regular tests and then only add in tests where necessary instead of every time Max sneezes
I send our data by email to our doc weekly and he is able to immediately advise where to increase dosages, to watch carbs and so on.
Best of all is the number cruncher that shows us Max's overall metabolic control.
Feeling a lot more reassured now that we have this and it has made understanding the carb/insulin/BG relationship so much easier.
Anyone else have a gadget like this and if so, how are you finding it?

Loads of love from the forest

This sounds a good addition, how and where did you get it. I use an accu check expert .

It is called the Accu-Check Smart Pix and you can order it from the pharmacy. We ay for everything here in SA so i am not sure what it will cost in the UK, I paid the equivalent of about 30GBP for ours. It plugs into our laptop and then reads the monitor and all data in the monitor via infrared and then crunches all that data into really easy to understand statistics and graphs.
Makes me feel dead smart i tell ya.

Thanks, will look into getting one .

Hi all, we were given one of these for free from my daughter's Diabetic nurse. She just handed it to us when she gave us the ACCU-CHEK aviva expert. So don't buy one until you ask they might have them lying around. I find them really handy when we go for my daughter's check-up. Last time I handed the Dr and envelope with a mountain of information so there were no queries. I think they would also be really good if you were looking for evidence for claiming your DLA. To be honest I just use the info on the screen of her accu-chek as it has pie charts and graphs there to look at. Hope everybody is well.

Thanks blondie, I will check on my next visit before I get one. Had a big box with the new meter and loads of info batteries etc but not one of those :( . Like you I do find the built in charts useful. Also I registered metre with acuu chek and have already had 6 batteries sent free :) can re order free every three months.
