Hi all, since diagnosis (type2 & intermittent metformin intake) my teeth seem to be crumbling away! at least 3 teeth have broken up! Has anyone elses experienced this? It may simply be my teeth of course & not linked to the diabetes........

Poor sugar glucose levels cause an infection in gums which in turn causes a problem for teeth. Diabetes and oral problems are indeed connected. I would advise you to check the sugar levels and consult a dentist for it.

Hi,dental nurse here.diabetes can effect gums in turn lead to loose, mobile teeth which can mean losing them eventually .if you have problems with your gums corsodyl mouthwash is good and brush along your gum line and remove any plaque as this will further irritate gums ,also regular scales at your dentist.it shouldn't effect your teeth as such maybe there was a underlying problem with your teeth that's just come to light now but your dentist can give you a high fluoride toothpaste to help strengthen your teeth and make them more resistant to acid attacks which I constantly worry about as my daughter has pure orange when she hypos which is in between meals and this can also damage and weaken the enamel on your teeth. Hope this helps
