I recently found the Tesco 4-seed mix in the baking section of Tesco's. The packet contains sunflower seeds (35%), pumpkin seeds (35%), sesame seeds and golden linseeds.
I like seeds as a snack and as a topping for salads and have used a variety of mixed seed options in the past.
The thing about the Tesco seeds is the published nutrition on the packet. Per 100g; energy 580kcal, fat 49g (of which saturates 6g), carbs 1.8g (of which sugars 1.5g), fibre 12.5g, protein 26.7g.
These are very good numbers, which I'm sure must be accurate, but quite different to other packets of seeds I have bought. Perhaps Tesco allow for fibre differently?
One problem I have, though, is the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 polyunsaturated fats in seeds and nuts. Only the linseed/flaxseed has high omega 3 and that is in the ALA form that is not readily usable by the body. Perhaps I am worrying about nothing as I have low total amounts anyway.
