Test everyone at 40.

Hi

Good idea BUT

always a BUT

what's the point if the same old **** advice is given to these newly diagnosed fellows. Hopefully some will find their way here

Hope it See's the light of day :)

Would have been good to have been tested earlier, I'm sure I had T2 for at least 5 years before diagnosis. They should have been keeping an eye on my BS as I had borderline gestational twice, but they didn't.

From what Ihave read, many t2s have had the condition for about 5 yeears before diagnosis

Why not have a mandatory diabetes test for anyone diagnosed with thrush? This would cost nothing, and could have caught quite a number of us early on. Even good GPs seem clueless about the possible connection. I diagnosed myself using the internet!

Before thrush treatments were made available over the counter, you used to have to visit the doctor. I still wasn't tested for diabetes back then, even though I was overweight and had borderline gestational diabetes in the previous five years.

Yes, I was told by my GP that going by my readings I had been diabetic for at least 5 years ! I think its such a good idea. Think they should test at the opticians as well :)
