Hi all. I've had some extra blood tests done as I've moved doctors (thank goodness!!)

My previous results were (mid August):
"HBA1C": 63 mmol/mol
"Serum cholesterol": 2.9 mmol/L
"Serum HDL cholesterol level": 1.0 mmol/L

My newest results are:
"HBA1C": 32 mmol/mol
"Serum cholesterol": 3.1 mmol/L
"Serum HDL cholesterol level": 1.0 mmol/L
"Serum LDL cholesterol level": 1.7 mmol/L

I'm jolly happy with my HBA1C (single dose metformin MR + LCHF diet only), but surely that means that as my overall cholesterol is up, my LDL cholesterol (which appears not to have been measured the first time!) has also gone up.

I know it's all "low", but how worried should I be that my LDL has gone up? Or maybe it's just within margin of error...?

Sorry if I'm worrying over nothing - I'm still chuffed about my results :)

Your LDL still looks fine @geoffh, here are the target cholesterol levels for people with diabetes :

  • Your total cholesterol level should be below 4.0mmol/l.
  • LDL levels should be less than 2.0mmol/l.
  • HDL levels should be 1.0mmol/l or above in men and 1.2mmol/l or above in women.
  • Triglyceride levels should be 1.7mmol/l or less.
