I've been on Metformin since 2012 and was told by my doctor that as this was not an insulin based tablet I wouldn't experience any hypos. Due to this I would not need to test my levels. I suffered my first hypo 2 years ago and from then have made sure I have my meter to hand. Since then I have also suffered 2 more and had a couple of days where my levels dropped 3mml/lt after 2 hours. When I finally got to see a doctor he could not give me an explanation. As I'd also run out of test strips I put in an urgent request only to be told they were not needed. When I asked why I was told the NHS is no longer supplying strips to T2's as they don't need to test. Has this happened to anybody else.

Just about all of us T2s here. I have to fund my own.

Though in some cases if you have an enlightened doctor you may get them. Most doctors are now slavishly following nice guide lines as if the were mandatory which they are not.
