Test strips on prescription

Hi

I am hoping that someone can help. My gp doesn't think that I need to test my blood sugar levels, as I am only on Glucophage(metformin solution) and this can not lead me to have hypos. I have never had a reading below 4 even on insulin in both my pregnancies. At the moment I am buying my test strips for my aviva nano. I am wondering whether to go back and see another gp and see if they would prescribe them to me. I want to try and sort my blood sugar levels out. I can't do this without knowing my sugar levels. I have recently had my annual eye check and i have got to go back for further tests.

Sorry for waffling

Hi,

I think you should definately see a new GP, and see if he/she understands how important it is to test to see how your BG's are doing!

Have you talked about this with your diabetes specialist? They are far more likely to understand your need to test so could maybe write a letter to your GP to sway them to let you have strips on prescription.

good luck!

Hi ebony

Thank you for your reply. I have been to the gp and she has provided with test strips. its amazing that the doctors both work in the same practice and yet one has said no and the other gave them to me.
