TEST STRIPS

I worked at a pharmacy for four years and can advise thet pharmacies have a minimum mark-up of 50% (+VAT), but more usually 100% mark-up (+VAT). Thus a product arriving at a shop, costing £10.64 will be sold at £25.00 when 17.5% VAT is added.

Of course, such shops have high overheads to pay.

Couldn't we set up as a distributor ourselves, buy test strips at cost price and then pass the savings on to the consumer? We could be called the Diabetics Collective or some such name.

You'd probably need to buy in considerable bulk to get any form of discount

These guys

used to be pretty reasonable (they're diabetics themselves) but the prices have recently gone up, whether that means the prices in the shop have gone up even more I couldn't say

Sent for the test strips for my One touch ultra 2 from the website in my previous post as have been testing frequently due to blood pressure medication raising my blood sugars. I ordered on Sunday and they arrived today. Expiry date is February 2010. I had two boxes for the  price of one !!

Would prefer them to be in date
