I worked at a pharmacy for four years and can advise thet pharmacies have a minimum mark-up of 50% (+VAT), but more usually 100% mark-up (+VAT). Thus a product arriving at a shop, costing £10.64 will be sold at £25.00 when 17.5% VAT is added.hanadr said:The latest price I have for Freestyle test strips from Abbott Diabetes care is £14.60 including P&P.
Last time i enquired at a pharmacy, the same pack of 50 strips was£25. I bet Boots pay less than £14.60. I make that a differential of about 170%
Of course, such shops have high overheads to pay. :|
