testing advice please

Key thing is to have a clear objective - the point of testing as a type 2 diet only is to see what you caeat, how much of it, nd when. So, on the basis that you don't have (or won't have) an endless supply of strips, I'd focus on testing at 2 hours after eating. If at that stage you reading is above 7.8 (some set different targets, but this is safe) then you had too many starchy carbs in that meal and need to leave some out next time you have a similar meal. Try similar foods at different times of the day, as we all react differently at different times. Keep a careful record, and you'll soon get to know what you can and can't eat. Once you've seen a particular meal is safe a couple of times, don't keep checking it. It's a waste. Use your strips to experiment with different food combos, and different exercise regimes. I found I got much better figurtes at 2 hours after the same meal if I did ten minutes hard exercise at the 1 hour stage.
Every now and again, do a fasting BG to see if there is a trend of that coming down. But don't test it everyday unless you have unlimited strips; there's not a lot you can do about it, it takes a while for fasting BGs to come down so just have a look now and then.
Happy stabbing!

Don't forget to make some sort of chart, like food in, how much, how many carbs, time, and test result after two hours from the time you finish eating.

If you are computer savvy put it in something like excel and make a graph.
