Hi I am being test in a few days for Gestational Diabetes and I have been advised that I will need to drink 2 bottles of Lucozade during the test. My problem is I have a caffeine allergy & lucozade is packed with it. Does anyone know of an alternative? The nurse hasnt been very helpful just huffing & puffing at me like its my fault! Please help

When I was tested for Gestational (over 20 years ago) a plain glucose drink was provided. It wasn't very nice to drink, but should still be available. The drink has to have a measured amount of glucose in it and that's why they use lucozade.

I would insist that you are provided with a suitable drink. It wouldn't be good for you or the baby to have an allergic reaction to the caffeine. Glucose powder is available to buy from a chemist and this could be dissolved in water as long as you knew the correct amount.

Hi

Unless they haven't been funded properly, when i was recently tested they provided a beaker of a glucoise drink. explain to them that most boroughs provide this not luco. also dont forget to fast!xx
