hi all
i’m going abroad in the summer and just wondered what i do about carrying my testing kit and glucogel through though the airport.
Also i have quite a bit of medication to take with me, do i need a doctors note or something to take with me as proof?
thanks

Hi bexter75
I just carry my testing kit in my hand luggage, never had a problem, after all there must be thousands of people with diabetes going through customs every day, your kit is not going to be the first they have ever seen.
Your medication also needs to stay with you in your hand luggage, just incase your suitcase gets sent to a different part of the world.
I keep my meds in their original packaging with a prescription so there's no doubt that the drugs are mine. I put the whole lot together in a clear zip lock bag.
I don't take any drugs that can cause hypo's so no Idea about glucogel but I can't see why it would be a problem

In nearly 20 years of diabetes with, literarily 100s of flights, I have never had any issues with my testing kit.
I have never carried glucogel but if it is less than 100ml, it should be treated like any other gel or liquid. Carry it in your hand luggage in a clear bag (with your toiletries).

I carry a letter from my doctor but in my 20 years, I have needed it twice.
