Testing my blood levels

I was diagnosed T2 9 weeks ago given Metforming 2 500mg tabs per day, and that's it, I sit here most days reading how everyone's testing their blood levels, should I be doing that, because I ask my GP "do I need a blood testing machine thingy" he said no, why do I get the feeling I'm uneducated and know nothing? :(

It's not you it's your doctor. Ask him how you change to a new lifestyle without knowing what you are doing.

If I had known how helpful a meter is when I was first diagnosed I would have got one then. I was finally given one by the nurse and only then were my eyes opened.

Hi Dougal

Don't hold your breath. great if you get one but if you don't it's worth funding one yourself. the cheapest for test strips (the expensive part) is the SD codefree. I have the accu-check and last time paid £22 for 100 on ebay.

I can 100% say I could not have gained the control I have without one. It's quite facinating actually seeing what your body can handle and what it can't .

Let us know how you get on
