Thalassemia beta trait

Hi. I have beta thalassemia trait. Will the test HbA1c be accurate? Does that haemoglobinopathy lower or increase the value of the test?

From reading on the net it would appear that the answer is that it depends on the lab process used to arrive at hba1c score.

There are various alternatives apparently and while some are not affected by beta thalassemia trait (beta thalassemia minor), others will report an artificially high estimated hba1c.
