My father has Type 2 diabetes and recently saw this forum about low-carbs.
He has only been doing this since Tuesday and his blood sugar has dropped dramatically!
Normally he is averaging 11+'s on a morning but since doing this he was 7.5 on Weds and 7 today!

He used to eat bread daily and pasta now he doesn't!

He has feeling back in his feet and feels loads better. He has an appointment with his diabetic nurse in a weeks time to talk about his medication.

Thank you so much!

Thats great Kayleigh, I'm sure he can do even better if he follows what the forum folk recommend.

Glad we could all help. If he's like most men try and make him think it was all his idea!  That way he'll be less likely to go back to the old ways. He should be proud he has a daughter like you. Take care.

That's great news; but beware the next appointment.

When I got the best HbA1c I'd ever got (5.8%) my GP and nurse said that was too low and I needed to increase the carbs and get it up a bit. Like a fool I didn't question that and have been trying to get back to the 5% club ever since.

Most GPs and practice nurses whilst very well intentioned freak out about low carbing although as you are so obviously seeing it is the best way to go. The reasons they are concerned is that the LAW is that higher fat and higher protein is bad; we know different and no-one has provided any clinical studies to show that higher fat and higher protein is a problem but there we are; it's THE LAW.

So, if there is a storm, weather it and make sure your dad keeps on doing what he's doing.

Best
