Diabetic Educators, people who do not listen, people who do not actively try to make their situation better, people who think I am in their textbook, people who think I am a standard T1D.
I live in the United States but my in-laws live in Hungary. Over the course of the last 27 years and through chatting with my Mom in law, I began to seriously understand how the human race really does have different basic emotions based upon where they are. I have made it a practice to stay away from Diabetics of any kind. Everyone I have ever spoken to regards their condition, in a phrase, "I fight my Diabetes." My first thought on that, wow, you must be tired, fighting constantly, followed by my second thought, oh no, I cannot be around you, your mental state is dark, not good. Followed by, good luck and good bye.

A wee bit slantways point, I belong, also, to a few Puli boards. The ones based here, the same, snotty. The Europe based ones are friendly, wonderful and no one gets hurt at poor grammar or inappropriate use of terminology. The only Endo in the world that I respect, so far, asked me to sign up on a new Diabetic website, I did. I figured that would be a great place to ask a question that drives me nuts, why do I have these false highs? Oh Wow, that created nastiness on all types of levels as there is no such thing as a false high, I need to check my keytones, oh man, all kinds of negative snipes that had nothing to do with my question, all because I used a term that I use every time I get one, a false high. You know, when your sugar spikes for no reason whatsoever?

You guys are wonderful and I am so thankful that I have finally found a place to read what other folks do for odd things that just seem to pop up. We use our own terms for what we perceive is happening. I am STILL using terms for my condition that they taught me 50 years ago. Some of those terms no longer exist and have been changed.

Thank you ALL for being my extended family. :joyful:

Hi & welcome. You'll find that on the whole we are friendly & supportive on the various forums. Some threads are health based, some food/ recipe based & some just for fun. Have a good look around not just the forums but the site as a whole.

Welcome robin!
As a whole this site is by far the best. There are some nit pickers and snipers as on any forum but as a whole there is so much education here. There are wonderful and educated people here. Stay here and learn. Everyone is loved.
We all have good days and bad days and both are welcome

Glad you found this forum. There really is no better

It is heart warming to read so positive feelings towards this forum...and to which I whole heartedly agree. 'Funny' thing is..we are so varied group of peole..from so many different back rounds, ages, countries....and we seem to get on well. Sometimes things just 'click'.
Glad you are here and I'm glad to be here too...

Welcome robin...I'm sure you'll continue to find this and informative, supportive and friendly community, I certainly do. As for grammar and outdated/wrong terminology, don't worry, just ask and comment, without fear or favour:)

Hello KevinPotts, nice to meet you. I am relieved to know, what is going on right now pretty much is unbelievable to everyone else as well. In 51 years I have not had issues due to not being able to get my supplies. I am constantly rejected when I want something new but I can live with whatever I have. Eventually, our insurance market decides if they just give in to our wants and needs, it is healthier for us and thus cheaper for them.

Thank you my friend.

We have a phrase coined by an erstwhile politician here in the UK and I think in this instance it's an appropriate encouragement to you....."don't let the ******* get you down!" All the best Kevin
