I just had a Hba1c at the gym as part of a health MOT on joining, and I got a reading of 36. Two months ago at the doc I was 42 and told pre diabetic.
I wasn’t given any guidance by my GP & had I not found this forum I know I’d have desperately tried to lose weight by eating lots of veg / lentils / wholewheat grain & everything low fat.
So thanks for helping to educate me on low carb / high fat and giving me ‘permission’ to test when NHS folk said it wasn’t at all necessary. Knowledge is indeed freedom
I’m 10 llbs down and another stone to go I hope.
A big thanks especially to those who answer questions that may seem simple & stupid in a kind way. It’s not easy to ask a question to a forum esp if you aren’t feeling great & it’s all new- so it’s ace when the tone isn’t ‘why would you think that’ and instead is encouraging and helpful.
Thanks so much - hoping I manage to keep my levels low now
