Welcome to the thread William. If you fancy going veggie that's fine but you can get control of your BG by cutting down on Carbohydrates and avoiding sugary sweets, drinks etc. Bread rice potatoes and pasta contain the highest carbs, carrots, parsnips banana and tropical fruits are high too, so try cutting them out or at least greatly reducing them. You really need a glucose moniter to test everything you eat, you will soon identify the foods that are bad for you and the ones that are safe for you. There is also a brilliant little book on Amazon called Carbs & Cals which lists most foods and gives the calorific and carbohydrate values. You will find lots of help here and always somebody around to give you advice, loads of good recipes too for baking, cooking, soups stews and treats. Have a good roam around the forums and ask any questions you might have

Hi and Welcome william shiels. :)I am Type 2 and Vegetarian -[ but not totally 100% anymore] for I do 'ocassionally' eat eggs, bacon (crisp), sausages (almost burnt), my partner is a meat eater and through our 17 years together I have "sampled" things!! You can obtain protein from cheeses, eggs and other diary products, lentils and pulses etc. There's a thread on this forum for vegetarians - have a look at what some members eat on a daily basis. :)
