Hi, I just wanted to say that I noticed today that my blood glucose meter readings are now in range 100% of the time. I've also shed weight from my belly, which I assumed was just a natural part of getting older. I assumed this because before diagnosis I had a good diet, low BMI and was pretty active-- in fact I was following basically what the NHS recommends in it's eatwell plates, but with less carbs, and I was still prediabetic.
I feel better now too. This is down to support I found here after being told I was prediabetic in July this year. After reading many posts and asking questions, I chose to try a lowish carb medditeranean diet, cutting out all starchy carbs and refined sugar products. I'm really enjoying it and I really just wanted to say thanks! I'm using recipes from Michael Mosley's books, avoiding his more carby dishes, and have learned enough now to try recipes from other books, adjusting if required.
I feel I could have easily walked into diabetes if my doctor hadn't tested me and if I hadn't had the follow-up support here. I was so upset that my healthy diet had made me sick and I felt there was no room for getting healthier, but the information shared here helped change my perceptions.
Thanks again!
