Today I received my HbA1c results. To get it into context they are the lowest that I have had since 2014 where they were at 49mmol/mol. Today they were at 36 mmol/mol, the biggest drop since 2015 that I personally have had.

I have to say this has to be down to the Diabetes.co.uk method that I have put in place for over a month now. There can be no other reason especially after enjoying Christmas in the more traditional way, foodwise.

I know I have to keep a firm grip on my diet to maintain those levels and of course I will as I understand a lot more now than I did before enrolling.

My day is tinged with a little disappointment at doubt and criticism levelled at me from a small minority. They know who they are.

But again, thanks to so many for answered questions, and exchanges of ideas, people too numerous to mention.

Maybe I need to go back and get the test done again, possibly a bum reading. but I am very surprised at the drop and the amount.

In summary then, HbA1c down, blood pressure down and weight down. All heading in the right direction.

That’s fantastic. Well done and keep going. Most likely you’ll need to continue your current strategy for the rest of your life in order to prevent a recurrence, but honestly you’ll probably find you enjoy food more than you ever did anyway, especially now that you can taste it

Indeed, thanks Jim. I have tried to read all of your posts and have learned a lot from you. Much appreciated.

Just on a point of detail if you are referring to this place when you speak of method, then it is only appropriate to point out that ithis is not a Diabetes UK forum. Diabetes UK are a different organisation altogether.

You might excuse my error at a time of personal euphoria.

Indeed, and in this instance the distinction between the two establishments could barely be more pertinent. Since, had @Listlad been referring to “the other place”, then he would very likely now be a fully paid-up, card carrying diabetic asking for advice on how to inject insulin

Funny you should say that as I was in the motorway loos on the way to Manchester and I saw an alternative establishment advertising membership fees. Would they be the ones?

Quite possibly. Diabetes UK are a charity who offer disasterous advice to type 2 diabetics that actively makes their condition worse. Really though it’s easy to see how the two names are conflated

FABULOUS! Well done on your hard work

Hey @Listlad, surely you should now change your diabetes status to “up yours glucose”? Why isn’t that option available in the list?

@Jim Lahey - as a member of Diabetes UK, as a result of my officer status with my local DUK group, I find your broad brush approach to be rather inappropriate.

I would agree in some areas, DUK are behind the curve, in terms of confident statements, but they do do a lot of good work for people with all types of diabetes.

We are surely entitled to voice open opinion?
As I have done. It is the wholesale nature, I find uninspiring. One size, of anything rarely suits all.

Fair enough. Agree to disagree. I wasn’t sure if perhaps you were speaking from a moderating perspective.

I really don’t know what I should update it to. I was thinking Prediabetes in Remission but seemingly I cannot do that. Resurgam in a post early in the month suggested I was technically T2 but not formerly diagnosed as such.

Listlad, wow, what a result and thoroughly deserved. This is ALL your own hard work.
Well I did put a shift in on the diet. But the direction of travel is all down to people on here like yourself. Thanks.

Also, should the condition reverse the other way at some point other than for dietary reasons I will know that I need to screw down the carb intake a bit more.

My hard work, but I could not have done it without the advice on this forum. I really did not understand the way forward back in January and going back the way. The difference is almost miraculous. I had to check the result several times to be certain.
