I've checked the actual research and cannot see anywhere in the article that claims Buddhism is a better belief system that all other beliefs/religions. These researchers have focused for years on the impact of following Buddhist teachings according to the Thai model.
Also the results are not robust, they did not prove a direct effect only correlation within a Buddhist society for those who actively follow the key teachings - these are shared by many other faiths but they are not presented in the way the research questions are formulated.
