Hello

How do you even begin to cope with the holidays? I loved to cook and go shopping at Aldi during the holidays. I was at Aldi the other day and just thought to myself, what is the point? Everything, i would like to purchase i cannot even eat anymore.

What are the holidays, without minced pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, sweet potato with marshmallows, honey glazed ham, sweet BBQ Ribs, etc.

The diabetic recipes cost far more to make than regular recipes.
Yes it costs more to look after our health but if we don't do it, then I imagine there are additional expenses needed to deal with blindness, kidney failure and amputations.

Soon after being diagnosed I was told to enjoy Christmas day as it's only one day in the year. Obviously I didn't go over board, but I could enjoy a roast potato, a little portion of stuffing, a small mince pie and a teaspoon of brandy butter (all normally forbidden foods) I thoroughly enjoyed a 'normal' meal just like everyone else, but in moderation. Ok, my bg went higher than I would have liked, but was back in the normal range the day after. Try not to be so pessimistic, you can have a treat now and again.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of low carb options that are not expensive. I've lowered my carbs down to less than 40g per day and my grocery bill has not increased.

You are writing to a guy who sits in a wheelchair most days. Whose legs are held together by titaniums rods, screws & wire. So anything else just does not matter that much. What is the worse that can happen, i die.
I'm aware of that, because I have read your other posts.

This will be my first Christmas as a diabetic and I know that I will be sticking to my diet which I am on at the moment because if I had some of the stuff I use to eat I would struggle to revert back to my diet afterwards. In a way it is like being an ex-smoker, I can't just have a cigarette on a rare night out because that one will lead to me starting again and it is the same with my food habits.
