Carrots, parsnips, beans and pulses. People who don't get to the point!
I've just read a couple of the posts about nurses and GP's and it does make your blood boil. Some of you may remember from my previous rants the trouble I was having, Well I saw a private GP and got a referral to consultant who I saw privately on Tuesday. He could not have been nicer! First of all when I told him about the prescriptions, which had been shoved at me, without consultation, statins rapril etc, his comment was "I did not realise, we were meant to be putting everyone on everything - targets I presume". When I explained how I had questioned this, he was very supportive and said that mine was a refreshing approach, the fact I had done research and wanted to take control was half the battle. He was supportiveto the fact I had been testing, even though I was told not to, as the spreadsheets I gave him showed up something very important against "the excellent" HB1A my nurse kept quoting. In fact it is a false positve and I am suffering with Reactive Hypoglycemia! This is not helped by the Malabsoprtion I suffer with Can't remember who it was on here, who had already sussed this out - but BIG RESPECT! So basically, I eat my BS rises but then falls very quickly.

Anyway, he was concerned that my symptons were dismissed by the nurse and I could not get an appointment with the GP and he said "thank goodness" you have followed through on this especially with the Malabsorption. Anyway he is is now talking with my other consultant and they will decide what to prescribe based on this, but I have been told that Insulin may be an option. He said he was also going to talk to my GP personally.

Saw my GP yesterday and what a change! All of a sudden, very concerned, will discuss all my medication with me before prescribing etc, etc. I've now been asked to monitor my blood pressure as well, alongside the BS (although still will not pay for strips ROFL) so they can "plan my care". Anyway I'm off now to see my consultant about the Malabsorption -to see what he says. From Famine to Feast with doctors for me! :?

Brilliant!

Just goes to show how competent *some* doctors are, principally when they are not having their strings pulled by non-medically-qualified accountants.

My late aunt discovered she had a completely different response from the SAME doctor when she saw him privately from when the saw him on the NHS. Unfortunately by then it was too late and she died anyway waiting for the operation she was previously told she couldn't have.
