I've had asthma since childhood and also live in Scotland. There was no central heating when I was a child but we have it now.

We had to get rid of our dog when we discovered I was allergic to him, after my 3rd stay in hospital with asthma. My life went back to normal after that. The only time asthma affects me now is when I have the cold (touch wood!)

what gets me is the calls from jobbing law firms (allegdly) for matters such as PPI claims.
Whilst there may be a demand for such, if I required it, I would seek out an appropriate fellow!
They are like a chap that hangs around outside the stalls of a toilet yelling "Wipe yer bum for you, Sir/Madam"
(not to denegrate thos carers who DO gently wipe the bums of those who do need the assistance.they provide a much neede service)

You can get online & fill in a form to stop the calls but takes about a month to "filter through". You will still get calls from overseas call centres but I just say no thanks and hang up before they get started or even talk over them. Someone keeps calling from India (I'm assuming) about insurance for my Sky box. Wanted to know what I would do if it went wrong. Just said if Sky didn't give me a replacement free then I'd just swap to Virgin. Problem solved

PS it's the Telephone Preference Service

GP once told me that cold viruses mutate very quickly so while you're immune to original infection you can pick up the next variation. Touch wood since I retired I've had very few cold (now I'm going to go down with one) and even when Mr Chris had flu in Jan I managed to escape but did use lots of anti bacterial wipes on door handles, loo
etc and hand gel and slept in spare room

Some of you may remember Mr Chris mate who called me several rude names when I didn't play along with one of his "joke" phone calls. Mr Chris was convinced it couldn't have been him but today he called in to our cafe and I happened to say something in jest that obviously touched a nerve & he said I should learn when to keep my mouth shut and €<%%#~ off. Luckily Mr Chris was there so can't deny it this time

Sorry to say that Chris, but what a complete and utter crass **** hubby's mate is, or is he still a mate?

Kids are out of school Friday and Monday for Columbus Day.
Ugh...
Wasn't he just a lost sailor?
Five hundred years now, Native American tribes have been referred to as Indians because this joker was lost at sea looking for a western spice route to India.
And now the kids are out of school in his honor?
And the banks are closed too.

Our schools have "inset days" for the teachers which normally occurs just after a long holiday

I think that's what they did here, Friday was inservice day (kids out, teacher's there for conference) Monday all out for Columbus Day.
We will go through twice the normal groceries over the four days than a normal Friday through Monday.
