Hi, Ive noticed for many years that I often get the shakes after food! I always put this down to either alcohol or caffeine. However I have recently been diagnose pre - diabetes and bought myself a blood glucose monitor. Today I was unable to fix my own lunch as I was travelling and had a sandwich and half a cookie! The shakes started about an hour or so after, plus no caffeine or alcohol had been consumed so I took a reading and it confirmed that for me thats how I feel with too much sugar in my blood it was 7.5. Does anyone else get these symptoms? So Im off now to drink lots of water and go for a long walk. :)

An hour or so after a sandwich and half a cookie anyone would see 7.5, but of course that may or may not have been the peak, and much depends on what your level was before you ate your lunch. You could have been rising quickly, or reducing quickly. One reading on its own doesn't tell us much.

As for the shakes, I have never experienced them. Others may have.

I've had the shakes before but that is before I have a meal and when my sugars are below 4 and well lower than that and I can't concentrate on much but I have had them as well above 10 but that was due to no insulin and being on a drip in hospital and going for a operation the same day and I had no food but that may be the same as the German chancellor is having as she gets the same but it may be your system having the immediate boost of energy and you are having a energy shock but I will let others answer as well

A 7.5 an hour after that food is very good. no need to worry over that!
I get the shakes sometimes when my sugars are low
