Oh poor you! I hate blood tests (I do actually cry ). I have to have my HbA1c, cholestorol etc at the end of the month and am dreading it already!

I eperienced something similar when I had a angiogram for my eyes in March. I have had this procedure before and thought nothing of the inserion of the canula as I had not even felt it on he previous occasion.
This time ,however the nurse [male] couldn't get the canula in on my right arm but wouldn't give up, he kept trying to get it in in the same place until it became extremely paibnful. he then tried the left arm with the same result but didn't persist for so long.

I have never previously had a problem with blood ests or anything of the sort. Eventually I suggested he try in my wrist. this he did in the wrist of the right arm . While this was painful it went in at about he third attempt.

The following day I experienced needle -like pains in my arm. When i had my HBAIc a few weeks ago he nurse was unable to get any bloof from my maltreated right arm for the firs ime ever, The vein is no longer visible at my elbow either.
I have eperienced numbness and tingling in hat arm too. I usually put it down to having o hold a magnifying glass to read etc
but it was so bad i told the doctor I suspected simvasatin was to blame and she changed o another statin.
Now I wonder....

The canula incident was in March so to answer he original post , he sharp pain has worn offf bu the numbness and ingling in three fingers has incresed alhough it is not constant.

Please be aware that taking blood from an artery is not for routine blood tests. It's usually done to determine blood gas levels in a critical situation.
Bloods for routine tests are taken from a vein.

If anyone is ever subject to repeated attempts at putting a cannula in or taking blood, tell them to stop and find someone else to do it.
I take blood almost every working day and several times at that but my tolerance for having blood taken is low. I have to be reassured that if the blood taker is not confident in doing it, they are not to try. I know it's learned behaviour, but I find it extremely painful and need to trust the taker.
