A few recent resolutions, based on feeling well and having a good, even flow of energy day to day ... basically, to carry on as at present eating as few carbs as possible, keeping an eye on the protein and eating plenty of fat. With summer almost here my daily exercise will automatically increase.
I'll continue to use my meter sparingly when I want to see how a carby food affects my BS mixed with other safe stuff, especially fat.
I will also somehow increase my weight, which is still sinking. I'm reluctant to eat more carbs again since my BS is generally as high as I would like it to go. I'm convinced I'm a TOFI – thin outside, fat inside -- but I will never know for certain without a scan. A muscle-building program might be the answer.
I've made a couple of half-hearted attempts to find a dietitian to sort out the vitamin & mineral balance of what I eat, but I figure that if I eat enough of everything it should be ok. I do mean enough, like one Brazil nut a day, not six.
I won't get a cholesterol meter – too expensive and unnecessary. I'm on a six-month trial without statins and out of curiosity I may get a £15 test from the chemist in a couple of months. It only tells me the overall figure, HDL and TC/HDL ratio but it will give some indication.
Reflexology, as suggested in previous postings by others here, doesn't seem to offer any help for peripheral neuropathy. I had a treatment from a practitioner recently who showed a welcome knowledge of diabetes types. She agreed that a few foot massage techniques which I hope Mrs DeeJay will perform for me will do as much good as anything. I continue to "walk on cobbles", without pain.
In summary, I hope to enjoy the summer with my newfound energy thanks to this forum, and continue to manage my health and life with the knowledge you've given me. Thanks, as ever.
